Ripple’s XRP is one of the most valuable cryptocurrencies in the world and a good addition to any diversified portfolio. In this guide we’ll show you how to buy Ripple XRP safely and securely in New Zealand with NZD.
What is Ripple XRP?
XRP is a digital currency which is issued and partly managed by Ripple Inc. Ripple Inc. is a payments company that aims to provide faster cross-border payments worldwide through it’s RippleNet network.

How To Buy Ripple In NZ with Easy Crypto – Step by Step
First thing you need to do – set up an account at EasyCrypto. This is very simple and shouldn’t take long.
Head to the EasyCrypto homepage and click Create Account.

You will have the option to sign up with socials or your email address.

After you’ve done that, you’re ready to purchase!
Creating an order
Click the “Buy/Sell” button on the menu and you’ll get taken to an order screen that looks like this:

Simply select XRP as the asset you want to purchase, then enter the dollar amount you want. In this example, I’m going to purchase $100 of XRP.

Next you’ll get taken to the order page. You can see in this example, I’ve ordered $100 of XRP, and it has a place for me to put my XRP address.
This is the place EasyCrypto is going to send your coins.
If you do not have an address, don’t worry. Just click the “I don’t have a XRP address” link at the bottom of the page. I’ve circled it in the screenshot above.
There you will find easy instructions on how to create your wallet.
Alternatively, you can just set one up yourself on your phone in less than a minute by downloading a wallet app. My recommendation is Exodus.
You can download Exodus at the following links: PC, Android and iOS.
Once you’ve created a wallet, you’ll be given an address to receive XRP. An XRP address will look something like this:
rNDsRBtCLmqgPybhCBPfEdsq1tZPXDnqo1
If it sounds complicated, try to think of it like a bank account number. It’s exactly the same.
Note: Always backup your wallet!!!! If you’re using Exodus, they have a simple guide on how to backup your wallet here.
This is also one of the things we really like about EasyCrypto. They encourage you to have your own wallet, rather than some other services that keep your coins in their custody. As we’ve seen many times, such as with the Cryptopia hack, keeping your coins in third party custody is not safe, and you are at constant risk of losing your assets. If you own your own wallet, you have full control and custody and should never lose your assets if you manage them properly.

ID Verification
If it’s your first time making a purchase, you’ll need to do KYC first. This is a legal requirement to comply with New Zealand’s anti money laundering laws. It’s the same reason you need to provide identification when opening a bank account. It’s very simple and only takes a few minutes.
First thing they’ll ask for are basic details like name and date of birth:

Then you’ll need to provide some information about your source of funds. This is all just basic paperwork, I don’t think any of these options will affect your investment. Just choose whichever option best applies to you.

Next you’ll need to provide a government ID.
Drivers license is the easiest and what most people opt for. You can also provide your passport.

Finally, it’s time to pay!
You can either pay by bank transfer or POLi. If you use POLi, your order will be delivered almost instantly. If you use bank transfer, you usually need to wait 1-2 working days.
One thing I dislike about POLi is you need to enter your banking password on a third party website, but there’s an easy way around it. Log into POLi and make your payment. Then immediately afterwards, log in to your online banking and change your password. POLi insists that they don’t store passwords on their server, but even if they do, this means your account will still be safe.

If paying by bank transfer, you’ll be given some bank details and a reference code to include in your payment:

If you chose bank transfer, your transaction might take a day or two.
If you chose POLi, your order should action almost immediately.
Luckily, things move much faster in crypto land, so once they send your coins you should receive them within a few minutes!
And that’s it! Follow the above guide and you should have your first load of XRP in the next 24-48 hours.
Remember, investing in cryptocurrencies is risky. All investment contains risk. Before you invest anything, do your own research and educate yourself on the cryptocurrency space and understand what you are investing in.
Stay safe and good luck!
